Our motto is: “If you can walk – you can snowshoe!”

The 5 km snowshoe trail is designed for all ages and abilities. Whether you have personal goals and challenges you want to meet or exceed or you just want to get out with the family and enjoy the winter, the 5km loop will be fun for all. For those looking for a bit more of a challenge, you can register for the 12km snowshoe run/walk and really enjoy the varied scenery and terrain.

To ensure that you end this race with a big smile on your face – the finish line will be at the end of the tube run. All participants will take off their snowshoes, climb the launch pad and zoom down the tube hill to cross the finish line.

Run Off-the-Grid 2012 Poster

Preparations are well underway for the 2012 Run Off-the-Grid on September 29th.  New this year, the Run Off-the-Grid is a member of the 2012 Trail Runner Trophy Series, which is a points-based series of 138 trail races across North America. We have also introduced a new 37K loop option to help participants that would like to train for the 50K. The race team has been working hard cutting, painting and posting all new Run Off-the-Grid signs on permanent posts along the course.  The course is open and ready for training and there have already been people training on the trails.  We are also in the process of creating a ‘Mattawa Endurance Series’, which will include all 4 endurance events in Mattawa – ‘Lost in the Rocks and Trees’ mountain bike race, North Bay to Mattawa canoe race, ‘Run Off-the-Grid’ trail run and ‘In to the White’ snowshoe race.  We are hoping to have details on this new series before this year’s Run Off-the-Grid.

Nature’s Harmony is one of the first accommodation providers in Ontario to obtain an eco-certification accreditation.  Nature’s Harmony has successfully completed Sustainable Travel International’s bronze level certification under the Sustainable Tourism Eco-Certification Program (“STEP”), which is an internationally recognized standard.  The bronze level certification is the first level in the process, which involved detailed documentation of Nature’s Harmony’s sustainability policies and procedures with review and approval by a 2nd party.
