What does the Run Off-the-Grid Support?
- Local food bank – we feel it is important to give back to our local community and $5 from each registration is donated to our local Mattawa Food Bank. A collection box will also be available on race day for donations of non-perishable food items.
- Local ‘green’ charity – proceeds from this event and 100% of camping fees will be donated to a local charity that demonstrates, promotes and encourages environmentally-friendly practices within the community. In previous years, carbon offset credits were purchased to offset emissions from participant travel to/from this event. However, the majority of carbon offset projects take place outside North America and this year we would like to see the proceeds invested in local initiatives.
- The vision of Nature’s Harmony – remaining profits from this event are invested back into Nature’s Harmony to further our vision of connecting people with nature and the great outdoors while demonstrating sustainable living practices and instilling an enthusiasm towards greater sustainability through experiential learning and youth programming.
